A real third row, and a real fuel bill
The Tahoe seats seven or eight with a third row an adult can actually sit in, which is rarer than the brochures suggest. It drinks accordingly. Work the fuel cost into the monthly payment before the space wins you over.
2021 changed the rear suspension
Tahoes from 2021 onward use an independent rear suspension. It improved the ride and freed up third-row legroom. Earlier trucks are still capable and cost noticeably less. This is the biggest single difference between generations.
Check what it has been towing
A Tahoe is often bought to pull a trailer. Look at the hitch, the transmission service history and the brakes rather than only the odometer. A tow vehicle wears differently from a school-run vehicle.
Size it against your parking
This is a long vehicle. Underground parkades, back alleys and older inner-city garages are where owners regret the size. Measure the space you park in before you commit.
